How a Telegram channel earns money from Telegram in 2026#
Telegram's terms for creators list three sources of income from the platform itself: rewards from ads shown in your channel, proceeds from sponsored posts you publish, and Stars your subscribers send you (Content Creator Rewards). In practice that means four tools:
| Tool | Who pays | Your share | Paid in |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ad revenue share | Advertisers in Telegram Ads | 50% | Gram or Stars |
| Suggested Posts | A user or brand offering a post | 85% | Stars or Gram |
| Paid direct messages | People writing to the channel | 85% | Stars |
| Paid posts and Stars from subscribers | Your readers | Stars at $0.013 each on withdrawal | Stars |
The sections below explain each one, then how payouts work.
1. Ad revenue share: 50%#
Telegram shares 50% of the revenue it earns from ads shown in channels and bots with their owners (Telegram API). The terms tie the reward to the number of valid impressions of sponsored messages in your channels (Content Creator Rewards).
Where ads appear. Telegram's getting-started page describes ads in public channels with 1,000 or more subscribers (Telegram Ads). Rewards and settings are under Channel Settings → Statistics → Monetization (Fragment).
What drives the amount. Your reward depends on how many ad impressions your channel shows and on what advertisers pay per thousand impressions (CPM). CPM is set by advertisers' bids, not by the channel. Resellers publish averages by topic. In January 2026, eLama's clients paid from about €3.0 CPM for blogs and games up to €10.0 for marketing and PR; health was €3.2, technology €3.4, business €6.2 and interior and construction €7.8 (eLama). Treat these as one reseller's figures, not a price list.
An illustration, not a forecast. Say advertisers pay an average CPM of €3 for impressions in your channel and your channel shows 100,000 ad impressions in a month. Telegram's revenue from them is €300, and your 50% share is €150.
Turning ads off. A channel can hide ads once it reaches boost level 50 (the default value of channel_restrict_sponsored_level_min in Telegram's config). Only the owner sees the setting (Telegram API: revenue, config).
2. Suggested Posts: 85%#
Since July 2025 users and brands can offer your channel a paid post through its direct messages. You can accept, decline or suggest changes to the text, media or price. The money is held by Telegram and reaches you 24 hours after the post is published. If you delete the post earlier, the buyer gets a full refund automatically (Telegram blog).
- Your share: 85% for both Stars and Gram (Telegram API config).
- Price range: 5 to 100,000 Stars, or 0.01 to 10,000 Gram (Bot API).
- Scheduling: publication can be set from 5 minutes to 30 days ahead (Bot API).
- Bots can help: since Bot API 9.2 (August 2025) a bot can handle suggested posts for a channel (Bot API changelog).
Profiles show a rating based on successful Stars transactions, which Telegram presents as a way for channel owners to judge who can be trusted with Suggested Posts (Telegram blog). More in our Suggested Posts guide.
3. Paid direct messages: 85%#
Since June 2025 a channel can turn on its own direct messages and charge for each message (Telegram blog). The recipient keeps 85% of the price, and a message can cost up to 35,000 Stars (Telegram API config). This works well for channels that get many requests from advertisers or readers: it filters spam and pays for your time.
4. Stars from subscribers#
Owners of eligible channels can hide a post's content until readers pay Stars to unlock it. For each Star earned this way, the owner can receive the equivalent of $0.013 in rewards (Content Creator Rewards).
Stars can also be spent instead of withdrawn: on promoting your own channel or bot, where one Star is worth $0.02 of ad credit (Content Creator Rewards). Since March 2025, Stars earned from paid messages can be withdrawn via Fragment and spent on Telegram Ads (Telegram blog).
5. Payouts#
- Processed by Fragment. Telegram outsources all creator reward payouts to Fragment, a non-custodial platform (Content Creator Rewards).
- Timing. Gram becomes available for withdrawal 2 days after it is accrued, Stars after 21 days (Content Creator Rewards).
- Gram, not Toncoin. Since 15 June 2026 Toncoin is called Gram and its ticker is GRAM; nothing had to be swapped (@gram, more). Gram is withdrawn to a TON wallet.
- Rates can change. The terms describe the 50% share as a voluntary commitment by Telegram and let it change reward rules, so check the current terms before planning around a number.
6. Using ad data to plan your channel#
A public ad archive shows which advertisers and niches buy placements in channels like yours. It does not show what any channel was paid. In the Telegram Ads Spy archive you can:
- open the ads feed filtered by niche to see who advertises in your topic;
- check which advertisers keep running new creatives over weeks, a sign they have budget;
- compare destinations: ads leading to channels, bots, mini apps or websites.
On 23 September 2026 the archive held 585,770 creatives; 67.7% led to channels and 20.6% to bots (public API).
FAQ#
How many subscribers do I need to earn from Telegram Ads? Telegram's getting-started page describes ads in public channels with at least 1,000 subscribers.
How much does Telegram pay per 1,000 views? There is no fixed rate. You get 50% of what advertisers pay for the ad impressions in your channel, and CPM depends on their bids, topic and audience.
When can I withdraw? Gram 2 days after it is accrued, Stars after 21 days, via Fragment.
Can I remove ads from my channel? Yes, once the channel reaches boost level 50.
Is a Suggested Post better than ad revenue? They add up. A Suggested Post pays 85% of a price you agree on; once you approve it, the post appears in your channel and must stay up for 24 hours.
